Work It

loverboy“What is the meaning of work?” a guru asked his friend.
His friend replied, “Well, son, it happens when your wits have reached their end.”

Life is work. Work is life.

Some people, I like to think of them as motherfuckers, would have us believe shit like this.

What is work? Is it something you do in order to survive? Or is it the meaning of life itself? It seems to me that maybe, just maybe, your perspective might be based on who you are. For example, if you are The King and lounge around all day with your turkey drumsticks, your opinion that servants should pursue a life of labor just might be biased. Ya think?

Me? I’ve never been all that enthralled with money and I was born and raised into a culture where work is something exclusively done in the pursuit of money. To me money is something that enables a standard of living and some of the stuff I want. Beyond that? Who gives a shit?

So I guess it’s not too surprising that my work ethic follows suit. I don’t work for fun. I don’t work because it is its own reward. I work because I have to. Period. No other reason. Zip. Nada. Bupkis. I simply see no other choice. How many non-work life paths are there and which of them could meet my needs?

Basically the only reason I work is so I can enjoy the times I’m not working.

And, right now, at this moment in my life as a citizen of the United States, I currently enjoy the maximum number of vacation days as required by law.

Zero.

Neutral Universe Theory

nightskyBehold my latest creation: Neutral Universe Theory. Or, as I like to call it, NUT.

I scientifically debated calling it Negativity Universe Theory. It would have been just as nutty. But, in the end, the word “negativity” implies a point of view and I don’t think the Universe really gives that much of a shit. Besides, like I’ve always said, recognizing that things are the way they are isn’t negative at all. It’s known as “reality.” A little place you should visit sometime.

So what’s in the Universe? Matter and energy. Like Carl Sagan said, we’re made of the same “stuff” as stars. Hand in hand with this is the Law of the Conservation of Energy which states “the total energy of an isolated system cannot change – it is said to be conserved over time.”

Therefore, the stuff in the Universe is a zero sum game. Nothing is created or destroyed. It just gets reorganized.

What else can be found in the Universe? Besides matter and energy? A core component of NUT is the belief in life and all that goes with it. Things like emotion, thought, and pain. “I hurts, therefore I exist. Sometimes I just hurts.” This is the realm of all that is not energy and is not matter. It’s something else.

Tumble

I took a Tumble, laws yes. M-O-O-N, that spells tumble.

Yes, I am now on Tumblr, whatever the fuck that is. And I have zero (0) friends. And I can find no way to search for my online friends, nor does the import friends from email function work, either.

Woot! It’s another social media success story! I can honestly say this. It doesn’t get any better than having literally zero friends.

If you can’t handle me having that small amount of happiness and if you were dumb enough to sign up for this Tumblr thing, too, look me up. You can shit on my day by adding me as a friend. I promise to return the favor and then some.

Shouts From The Abyss on Tumblr

Whatever.
