Christmas Coffee: A Tail of Divine Inspiration
I wonder about things. Weird things. For example:
Who was it that invented coffee? I’m not really as interested in the “who” as the “how.” Who was it who looked at a coffee bean and said, “You know what? I bet if we pick that thing, roast it, then grind it into dust, then run hot water over it, the water will be good to drink.”
Wow. Quite the imagination there. But it worked out okay.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention. Coffee is one hell of an invention so there must have been one hell of necessity preceding it.
Top 10 Coffee Mistakes
Coffee is made in the morning. At least it is in my house you friggin’ crazy idiots. And, being morning and all, we’re not exactly playing our best game. Not quite using all of ye olde “bean,” if you get my drift.
So here are ten early morning coffee mistakes that are common in the Taker household.

Me love you oolong time
Iced tea became my #1 beverage of choice after I recently gave up carbonated soft drinks and soda. Or, as I commonly refer to it, “liquid candy.”
In the mornings, after I also gave up coffee, hot tea moved to the top of the list.
Each of those, iced tea and hot tea, both had something else in common, though. And that was my old nemesis granulated sugar.
When sugar got kicked to the curb, that was a major game changer.
Sure, it’s easy to give up soda when you’re poppin’ two tablespoons of sugar into your iced tea. And a basic cup of hot tea in the mornings made from a generic tea bag isn’t super-critical when you’ve had a lifelong love affair with sugar and rely on it to fight any bitterness in your brewing technique.
Now I almost never drink iced tea, although occasionally with a bit of lemon it can be quite good if I get lucky in a restaurant.
Mornings are rougher. My hot tea without sugar is so bitter that it is often borderline undrinkable. And in the mornings I really crave a hot drink.
That’s when I learned I was doing it all wrong. So says the following video I found on my Roku and the free CHOW channel.
Facebook Beer: Here’s to my drunken friends

(Singing) Here's to good friends, tonight is kind of special. The beer we'll pour must say something more, somehow. So tonight let it be Homebrew Brau.
I just thought this was funny. Two different friends ended up next to each other in my Facebook thingy. One from my old life in the Big City and one from my new life in the Small Town. The don’t know each other but apparently they’ve got the same thing on their minds.
Meanwhile I’m still working on inventing my very own tequila…
