I’m not bothering to source the quote above. It’s real. It’s unedited. And it’s not really something that can be skewed by being taken out of context or what not.

By the way, the word “beckish” in the headline is my newest creation. It means: nauseated, the opposite of hungry.

Now, I wish to relate a real conversation I had with some guy about Beck and his quote.

Me: You heard what Glenn Beck said about the quake in Japan?
Person: Yeah, I heard something about it.
M: He said that the quake was a “message from God.”
P: He didn’t say that.
M: Yes he did.
P: No, he didn’t. He said something about “he didn’t know if” it was a message from God.
M: Gimme a break!
P: No, really. Go look it up.

So I went and googled it. I saw several headlines that said it point blank, just like this: “Glenn Beck Says Japan Quake a Message from God.” Still, that’s not proof. Was I wrong? Was much of the media coverage wrong, too? Were we being mean and misunderstanding The Beck?

I say no. He says unequivocally “there’s a message being sent.” His exact words. And then he goes on to make the point, there is “stuff” we’ve been doing and it hasn’t “been working out so well.” You do have to read a bit between the lines here, but I think we can safely assume he means all the sodomy and homosexuality and stuff.

And then, to complete his point, he goes on to say, “Maybe we should stop doing some of [that stuff].”

So now what you have are people claiming that Beck never said the earthquake was a “message from God” and his words are being misconstrued. But based on Beck’s actual words, I just don’t see how an intellectually honest person could support that position. I submit that it takes some rose-colored glasses to make that particular trip.

But maybe that’s just me. Personally I’m still sitting here waiting for lighting bolts to zap my ass that were promised a long, long time ago.
